The use of ceramics brackets has increased in recent years owing to develop compliance of the patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. Hence the role of an orthodontist is to preserve and enhance the esthetics, so ceramic brackets are used. But debonding of ceramic bracket cause enamel fracture or cracks, pain, bracket breakage during debonding because of high bonding resistance and their elastic modulus. Therefore, preserving the natural lustre of enamel hard tissue lasers has been proven to be beneficial t reduce the iatrogenic faced during debonding of ceramic brackets.
Lasers have a wide range of applications in clinical, diagnostics, and in the research world in medicine as well as in dentistry. Lasers have different mechanisms for both soft tissues and hard tissues according to their varying wavelengths. They act by thermal softening, thermal ablation, or photoablation. Different types of lasers used in dentistry are CO2 lasers, Er: YAG lasers, Nd: YAG lasers and diode lasers. The lasers have four different actions on the target tissue namely, reflection, absorption, scattering, and transmission.
