Current protocol for esthetic implant site development commonly involve staged reconstruction of hard (6 months) and soft tissue ridge (3 months) defects involving 2-3 surgeries in 9-12 months in addition 4-6 months for osseointegration (in staged) before provisional restorations. In most cases hard tissue grafting precedes soft tissue grafting followed by or simulations implant placement. To overcome this limitation, Vascularized interpositional periosteal connective tissue (VIP-CT) flap has been introduced by Sclar in 2003 for predictable large soft tissue augmentation in a single procedure. This technique involves development of a random-pattern periosteal-connective tissue flap from within the palatal soft tissues that is rotated into recipient site and interpositioned beneath the recipient-site flap (Sclar 2003).
