Osseodensification (OD) is a non-extraction technique of biomechanical bone preparation for dental implant placement, first developed by Huwais in 2013. Osseodensification is characterized by low plastic deformation of bone, created by rolling and sliding contact using a fluted densifying bur (Densah™ burs) which densifies the bone with minimal heat elevation (Huwais, 2014 . Osseodensification burs works in a non-subtractive fashion, condense the implant osteotomy soft bone in lateral direction, leading to a greater bone volume density, an increase in the bone implant contact, with subsequent increase in insertion torque levels, and reduction in micromotion. We have been using osseodensification technique in our department of periodontology for our implant cases.
