Effect of Ozonated water on Peri-Implant tissue has been studies. Antibiofilm activity of ozonized saline solution has been observed against peri-implant related biofilm. It is assumed that, ozone therapy improved the local environment in the peri-implant interface zone by its bactericidal activity, enhancing local oxygen supply and promoting hemostasis, which may lead to enhancement of the proliferation of osteoblasts, therefore increasing the rate and amount of bone formation and mineralization on the peri-implant bone interface. During osteotomy procedure of implant placement, ozone irrigation in the osteotomy sites, may enhance the healing as well as promote osseointegration. Ozone-gas-treated titanium (Ti) dramatically enhanced osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells, as evidenced by greater cell proliferation, alkaline phosphatase activity, and bone-like nodule formation compared with original Ti and has the possibility of improving osseointegration of Ti implants.
