The part of our regimen which gets the least attention has undoubtedly been our dental hygiene. Over time, toothbrushes go through normal wear and tear and become less effective with removing plaque from teeth and gums. Fungus and bacteria can also develop in the bristles if not taken care of properly. So the American Dental Association (ADA), recommends changing our toothbrushes every 3 months. Also, after use we must rinse off and dry our toothbrushes thoroughly, storing uncovered in an upright position and keeping it away from other used ones thus preventing any spread of infection.
