If the patient is edentulous or denture wearer for a very long period or all the teeth are lost because of terminal mobility, the bone of the lower jaw, ie. Mandibular arch becomes severely resorbed, which is not able to provide grip and support to lower complete denture. The lower denture in such cases is verly poor in staying at its place. The muscles and their dislocating forces can be utilized to retain the lower dentures in their place even with normal jaw movements. The impression waxes are shaped into a bite rim and moulded in a specific manner so that the forces from the outer side of oral cavity on denture surface are eqilibriated by the forces of inside the oral cavity. In this manner they stabilize the dentures rather than dislodging them.
