Water conservation: A Need of Hour
With only 1% of water available for the human consumption, doesn’t it make sense that we should treat our water supply with more respect?
Now talking about water conservation, it includes the policies, strategies and activities to manage how to conserve fresh and drinkable water that is required by the community for their survival and to meet the current and future demand.
Goals of water conservation.
1. To ensure the adequate amount of availability for our future generations.
2. To ensure the habitat and energy conservation.
Why is it necessary
1. As we all know that the water levels are going down day by day so we should take necessary steps to stop it.
2. Although Earth is a blue planet, but reality is that only 3% of water is available that is fit for drinking and out of this 3%, 2.99% is locked up in the form of glaciers and ice cap, so it’s clear and evident that we say that only .003% water is available in the form of surface & ground water.
What all measures can we take for its conservation?
1. Rain water harvesting is one of the best ways of capturing & storing rainwater for the irrigation of plants and providing water supply to animals.
For rain water harvesting all you need is a place to store rain water.
2. Conservation of water can also be done on household level such as washing laundries and dishes with minimal amount of water.
3. We should always remember to turn off the running water and to eliminate any leakage.
4. Water tank alarms should be used to eliminate the unnecessary wastage of water.
Concluding this blog by saying that water is one of our most essential natural resource and a very important part of human life so we should always look forward in finding and implementing the effective ways in which we can conserve or save the water, it will not only help us but also our forthcoming future generations to live a better and a peaceful life on this planet.
SAVE WATER, SAVE LIFE…!
