Introduction and Education
Dr. Vivek Bains has done his BDS & MDS from Govt. Dental College & Hospital, Patiala (Pb). He is currently working as Professor & HOD, Department of Periodontology, Saraswati Dental College, Lucknow. He completed his PGDHHM from IGNOU in 2017 and Associate Fellowship in Laser Dentistry by WCLI in 2018 and Fellowship by WCLI in 2019. He has about 77 National and International publications. He is author of 3 books pertaining to Dentistry & Periodontology, and he is recipient of Membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS).

Perio-Systemic Interrelationship
Diabetes mellitus is well‑predictable risk factor for periodontal disease, and in converse, periodontitis is thought to affect the systemic inflammatory condition, insulin resistance, and lipid and glucose metabolism.
Perio-Implant esthetics
Various bone‑grafting and bone substitute materials have been used for ridge preservation procedures. Socket preservation by beta-tri-calcium phosphate with collagen compared to platelet-rich fibrin is one of the procedures with promising results.
Laser Dentistry
Periodontal treatment in diabetic patients reduces systemic inflammatory burden and hence should be closely coordinated with the patient’s overall clinical diabetic management.
