Chief Complaint:
A 15-year-old male patient reported to the Department of Pedodontics, Saraswati dental college, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India with a chief complaint of localized gingival enlargement in the upper anterior teeth region since last 9-10 months.
History of present illness:
- No history of underlying systemic disease
- History of scalpel gingivectomy - 6 months back
Investigation:
- Intraoral periapical
- Panoramic radiograph
Hematological investigations:
- Punch biopsy
Diagnosis:
Idiopathic gingival enlargement with hyperpigmentation
Treatment Plan:
- Gingivectomy, Depigmentation with Laser
Conclusion:
- The harmony of the smile is not only determined by the shape or position of gingiva, but also by aesthetic appearance ot the gingival tissue.
- Thus, in pediatric population also we have to strive to balance the harmonious inter-relation of the pink with white, for an overall perio-esthetic achievement.
