A 20 year old female patient reported to the Department of Orthodontics, Saraswati Dental College, with a chief complaint of irregularly placed teeth in the upper and lower front region of the jaw since the eruption of the permanent teeth. The patient presents with no relevant pre natal, natal or post-natal history. On asking about familial history, patient’s mother and grandmother presents with the same type of malocclusion. On clinical examination, the patient had a Class I molar relation with Dewey’s modification Type 1 malocclusion. Due to severe crowding, the patient had gingival recession in the lower arch, hence it was a main point to keep in mind while correction of the malocclusion Diagnostic records were taken as part of treatment regime and were assessed. Following study model analysis and cephalmetric analysis, it was decided to extract all the 1st four premolars in the upper and lower arch in order to gain space in the maxillary and mandibular arch. The treatment period lasted for about 11/2-2 years followed by retention period of 6 months to prevent any relapse. The patient was quite happy with the treatment results.
