Introduction
Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is an immune platelet concentrate, which can be used as a matrix, it also promotes wound healing and repair. This case report presents a case of one step apexification using biodentine as an apical barrier and autologous PRF as an internal matrix.
Chief complaint
pain in upper front tooth region since 15 days
History
H/o trauma
Investigation
CBC, BT,CT, fasting glucose, hepatitis B
Diagnosis
chronic apical periodontitis
Treatment
- Access opening followed by preparation of canal up to 80 k file.
- Plugging PRF with the help of a plugger beyond the apex.
- After this, the biodentine was mixed according to the manufacturer's direction and condensed into the canal creating an apical plug.
- Obturation was done with GP cones using lateral condensation technique.
- Final restoration was done with GIC and composite.
- Pt. Was kept on follow up for 3 months
Conclusion
PRF can be used as an internal matrix and it also helps in healing and repair of wounds.
