Chief Complaint:
A 15-year-old male patient reported to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Saraswati dental college, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India with a chief complaint a swelling in the lower left labial mucosal region for the past 3 months.
Intraoral Examination:
Soft painless fluid filled lesion approximately 10mm in diameter
Diagnosis:
Mucocele
Treatment Plan:
Lase excision of mucocele
Conclusion:
Mucoceles are non-neoplastic cystic lesions of major and minor salivary glands commonly seen in children which result from the accumulation of mucus and its treatment modality is usually the excision procedure. In order to avoid intraoperative surgical complications like bleeding and edema and to enable better healing, excision can be done using a diode laser.
