INCUBATION CENTRE

OVERVIEW 

 Institutional Placement and Guidance Committee under the aegis of Saraswati Dental College & Hospital, Lucknow  aims to promote and support technology-based entrepreneurship spirit among the graduated and graduating students of SDC and dentists from all over the country, by advancing of Incubation Centre in the college. It  has been developed with an objective of fostering skills in professionals so that they can become successful entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship is emerging as the backbone of the nation’s economy and in order to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem, Saraswati Dental College & Hospital is working on igniting the ideology of starting self-ventures amongst Nation’s youth. The youth of today needs to be more inclined towards creating jobs rather than getting one. Therefore, to assist the youth to become self-employed and creating job opportunities, the college has come forward to provide support in every possible manner.  On January 6th 2019, Saraswati Dental College & Hospital established an independent Incubation Cell- “SPARK” which helps students, research scholars and faculty members to execute and transform their ideas into products, processes or services for the benefit of society and industry as well. SPARK is committed to work as a catalyst for entrepreneurship development within the university and also for  the other aspiring youths.

To create a culture where creativity and innovation are stimulated by Intellectual Property & Innovation for the benefit of all for promoting advancement in science and technology, arts and culture, traditional knowledge and biodiversity resources. 

MISSION  

To foster creativity and innovation and thereby, promote entrepreneurship and enhance socio-economic development, improve access to healthcare, food security and environmental protection, among other sectors of vital social, economic and technological importance for the benefit of India and society at large. 

OBJECTIVES 

• Give opportunity to prospective students to bring out innovative ideas through competitions and brainstorming. Exploring innovative and creative thoughts, ideas, or concepts developed by students, research scholars and faculty members of respective fields and society. 
• To develop and provide a platform for the creative aspirants, where their innovative ideas and concepts will be incubated and realized. 
• To incubate, culture, and refine the ideas or concepts with a support from technical as well as creative experts of the concerned fields. 
• Creating awareness among students and other sections of the society regarding various aspects of entrepreneurship like new business prospects, government schemes for entrepreneurs, essentials for framing business plan and developing start-up etc. 
• Nurturing an idea and giving it a shape of a sustainable venture i.e. assisting from the stage of project identification to project implementation. 
• Providing mentoring in all areas like operations, technical, finance, marketing, economics etc. 
• Acting as a support system by helping in providing all sorts of assistance like infrastructure (space), legal advice, technical expertise, market linkage, networking etc. 

ADVANTAGES 

• Many programs are conducted from time to time in which speakers from different sectors are invited to enlighten the professionals on various topics of importance relating to setting up a new dental clinic, its growth, sustainability etc. 
• An impressive number of our students have benefitted from these types enduring activities. The programs which are being held include educating the professionals about financial management which is a key factor while setting up a new clinic.  
• They are also made aware of  various financial assistance that can be availed by them including loans from various banks.  
• The Centre acts as linking bridge between the professionals and the banks which helps them to take informed decisions regarding finance.  
• Along with the above assistance the Centre also orients the students on topics like marketing their business, creating user friendly website, using tools like google to expand their business and establishing social media presence.  
• Many dentists who had a limited practice, by following the above approach and events, have successfully increased their patients inflow. 

FUTURE GOALS OF ‘SPARK’ 

The centre chiefly strives to inculcate confidence among budding dental professionals with which they can start their own practice and excel in this competitive world.  The aim is to provide them an opportunity to earn a decent living. For this, on the basis of their eligibility, various options like joining the armed forces,  going overseas, etc. are on the list.

INCUBATION CENTRE-SPARK 

Institutional Placement and Guidance Committee under the aegis of Saraswati Dental College & Hospital, Lucknow aims to promote and support the technology-based entrepreneurship spirit among the graduated and graduating students of SDC and also the dentists from all over the country, by advancing of Incubation Centre in the college. The Centre was established in the month of January 2019 with an objective of developing skills in professionals to accomplish not only to become successful entrepreneurs but also employment generators. Further the Incubation centre has been renamed as ‘SDC SPARK’ and shifted to new office space at the third floor of SDC. On March 20th 2021, new office was formally inaugurated by Dr. (Prof.) Alok Dhawan- Director, Centre for Biomedical Research at Lucknow and  Dr. Rajat Mathur-President SDC. Dr. KN Dubey- Principal SDC, Dr. Saumya Navit- Vice Principal SDC, and all office bearers of Incubation Centre along with the senior students of BDS were also present on the occasion.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH SHRI RAMSWAROOP MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY 

On December 23rd 2022, a memorandum of understanding was duly signed to mutually strengthen the relationship of Saraswati Dental College & Hospital, Lucknow and Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Lucknow. The purpose of this MoU is to benefit the students of both the institutions. Incubation centres of the institutes will jointly work as a catalyst for entrepreneurship development programs which will also be aligned with the identified needs of the youth. The services provided by the centre can be commonly utilized by the students of both institutes; SDC&H and SRMU. 

FOOD ATM 

Saraswati Dental College & Hospital, Lucknow in a very unique way inaugurated free Food ATM for the community on 20th October, 2021. The purpose of setting up a Food ATM is to promote innovative equitable food system which will provide food everyday to the needy people completely at no cost.
